UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design) is a design entrance exam held annually for students wishing to get into the IIT school of Design (IDC) or the other institutes affiliated with it. If youโre out of the people who have been looking up information on UCEED for a while now, and are making up your mind to apply, then youโve come to the right place!
Because here, we give you all the design exam information, and that too in one place. Sit tight, we donโt want you to fall off when you hear weโre giving you the UCEED evaluation criteria!
So, we've put down what all UCEED has to say about the evaluation:
(i) Part-A of the examination is a computer-based test; there is NO scope for review, regrading or re-totalling of the Part-A marks of the examination paper.
(ii) Part-B contains only one question which is going to be manually evaluated by expert examiners. Part-B of UCEED is a subjective question and there is no model solution for it. It will be evaluated holistically on a set of criteria given in the question.
(iii) There is NO provision for RE-EVALUATION or RE-TOTALLING in UCEED. Request for re-evaluation/re-totalling will NOT be entertained under any circumstances. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
(iv) Shortlisting: Marks obtained in Part-A will be used to shortlist candidates. The cutoffs (๐ฟ) for Part-A marks to shortlist candidates in the OPEN category will be ๐+ (๐2)โ=๐ฟ, where ๐ and ๐ are the average marks and standard deviation of distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of UCEED 2023. The ๐, ๐, and ๐ฟ will be rounded-off to two decimal places. The candidates belonging to the reserved categories shall have to fulfil a relaxed cut-off mark, which will be 0.9๐ฟ for OBC-NCL/EWS, 0.5๐ฟ for SC/ST/PwD, where ๐ฟ is the cut-off mark for OPEN category.
(v) Part-B paper of those candidates who do not get shortlisted, shall not be evaluated.
(vi) All shortlisted candidates will get a rank.
(vii) The evaluated answer booklets of Part-B will not be shared with the candidates.
(viii) Answer booklets of Part - B will be preserved ONLY for a period of three months from the date of declaration of UCEED results.
(ix) The evaluation of Part-B will be done manually by at least two expert evaluators separately and independently.
o If the difference <= 12 marks (20%), a simple average of the two examiners will be considered.
o If the difference > 12 marks (20%), the answer sheet of Part-B will be evaluated by a third expert examiner (and so on until the difference <= 20%).
o A simple average of the closest of two evaluators will be selected as the final marks. o If the difference in marks of the moderator and either of the examiners is the same, then the higher average will be considered for the calculation of score.
(x)Total UCEED score will be calculated by adding the marks obtained in Part-A
(xi) The responses of the candidates for Part-A of UCEED 2023 will be available for download ONLY until the declaration of the UCEED results and not thereafter.
(xii) Final decision regarding the answer keys will be taken by the UCI Committee after consolidating and considering all the comments from the candidates and the papersetting team. This decision is final and will be binding on all the candidates.
That's all for the evaluation part of it. After this, its all up to what you do in the entrance exam! Good luck!
