Hello and welcome to the blog where we’ll be talking about what you need to have to get into the National Institute of Design (NID). Yep, you heard that right, we’ll be talking about the eligibility criteria.
If you are looking to get in and need a bit of help looking around for information that is usually stuck in nooks and crannies and is so hard to yank out, then don’t worry. Sit back and pop some popcorn! We got your back!
The National Institute of Design (NID) conducts entrance exams once a year for both the masters and bachelor’s programmes. But before going for the entrance test you need fill a whole ton of forms and submit a million documents. And here is all that listed down for you!
All these dates are according to admission year 2023-24 and the dates will change year to year. But this is the general idea.
(i) For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.
(ii) For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

(iv) For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.
Again, everything mentioned is for the academic year 2023-24 and will change year to year, but the general idea remains the same.
Applications for academic year 2023-24 are open to candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2022–23 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent.
