What is the weightage distribution of the NIFT Entrance exam?

NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), conducts its entrance exams annually for both the undergraduate and post graduate programs. The test weightages are different for every field. Some have 3 tests, some 2 and some 1.

Let’s get to the real stuff now. Where we’ll tell you the distribution for each field.

1. Bachelor of Design (B. Des): 

For this, you need to clear 2 rounds. The first round consists of the GAT (General Ability Test) and the CAT (Creative Ability Test). The second round is the Situation Test. The weightage distribution is:

CAT-50%

GAT-30%

Situation Test-20%

2. Master of Design (M. Des): 

This degree also requires you to clear 2 rounds. The first round has the CAT (Creative Ability Test) and the GAT (General Ability Test). The second round has the personal interviews. The weightage distribution is:

CAT-40%

GAT-30%

PI-30%

3. Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B. F. Tech): 

This degree requires you to give only one test, which is the GAT (general Ability Test) And the weightage distribution is:

GAT-100%

4. Master of Fashion Technology (M. F. Tech): 

This one has 2 rounds. In the first one you give the GAT (General Ability Test), and the second round is personal interviews. The weightage distribution is:

GAT- 70%

PI- 30%

5. Master of Fashion Management (M. F. M.): 

Again, this has 2 rounds. The GAT (General Ability test) is the first round and personal Interviews are the second. The distribution of weights is:

GAT-70%

PI-30%

While this distribution shouldn’t interfere with your preparation in anyway unless you are left with really little time and need to focus on only the few major things. In that case, refer to this for the degree you want to apply for and plan out your preparation days accordingly, so that you score the best. Sometimes working smarter is better.
